This problem occurs in the October 2, 2001 0.9.4 branch build.
Go to <http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/survey.cgi>. Enter the text between the
quotes below into the Description text entry box. The text should contain no
line breaks, only spaces separating the words.
"After we collect the survey responses, mozilla.org staff will review them,
approve or reject each claim, and update the module owners page with the new
information. Obsolete directories will have their files removed from the tree
(but will still be able to be checked out by pulling a tree from a date prior to
the removal). After we collect the survey responses, mozilla.org staff will
review them, approve or reject each claim, and update the module owners page
with the new information. Obsolete directories will have their files removed
from the tree (but will still be able to be checked out by pulling a tree from a
date prior to the removal)."
Clicking anywhere on the right side of the bottom line of the text entry window
doesn't work -- it places the cursor somewhere else. In fact, if I succeed in
putting the cursor there and enter text, it will get inserted at the beginning
of the paragraph. Also, pushing the right arrow when the cursor is at the end
moves it back to the beginning, making it hard to shift-select text.
I'm not seeing this in my 0.9.4 build.
Giving this bug to mjudge@netscape.com since waldemar mentioned other selection
navigation problems.

It's still messed up in the same way in a recent trunk build.

Nominating for nsbeta1. This is a basic usability bug.

Still present. Just trying to paste the sample case text and replace the line
breaks with spaces is an exercise in frustration.
Severity: major → critical

This is not just MacOS. I can reproduce this with build 2002012421 on Linux (but
I cannot reproduce it on Win 95 build 2002012403)

Waldemar, I really think this is a dup of bug 83650, which I just posted a fix
for. Could you try some of the test cases in bug 83650 and tell me if they
exhibit the problem you mention in this bug?
I have never been able to reproduce your problem using your steps below (on
Windows) perhaps because of font/wrapping differences.
You can also give the patch in 83650 a try if you're interested. Let me know.

Waldemar, the fix for bug 83650 just landed on the trunk, so the fix should
appear in 02/08/02 builds. Let me know if it fixes this bug.
I couldn't reproduce this problem on my mac. One thing I forgot to ask you was
... do you get a scrollbar after you type in all of the text you mentioned above?

The fix for bug 83650 appears to have fixed this one as well (except for
pressing right arrow at the end of text, which is bug 82151)

Since this bug is resolved, it probably does not, in fact, depend on the
still-open bug 82151. Removing it from the dependency list.
Removing redundant mozilla0.9.8 keyword since mozilla0.9.9 is also present.
No longer depends on: 82151
