I have to talk to the widget gurus about this. Accepting.
Cc'ing the widget gurus. Can I get some info on this? Thanks,
can you tell me more about what you mean by *impossible* to type. I just now tried http://www.best.com/~law and I could go to the page. This was on my NT box.
Whiteboard: Need input from QA
Can QA elaborate on what characters can not be typed in. As mentioned in my previous message, I could type in as well as successfully visit a page that has ~ in it.

I'm still unable to type this ~ character into the location bar. At the moment I'm using the Milestone 9 build - sorry, I downloaded a M10 build but it failed to start :)

I'm not having any problems typing the tilde (~) using the US-International keyboard layout, Windows NT 4 SP 5, and the September 20, 1999 commercial non-debug build of apprunner. beans, I will mark this bug as worksforme in 24 hours if I do not hear back from you. I need to know: - what language version of Windows 98 you are using - which keyboard layout and language you are using (eg Swiss German keyboard layout) - if this works in later builds for you, eg a nightly build Thanks!
>what language version of Windows 98 you are using I'm using the version 4.10.1998 (no service pack or update) - which keyboard layout and language you are using Language: German (Switzerland) Layout: German (Switzerland) - if this works in later builds for you, eg a nightly build I've just downloaded the 1999092112 build and it doesn't work I can type that tilde if I insert it "manually" (means 'alt' + code). There are some other special characters that don't work like ^`´\{}[]¦@
Summary: Can't use some special charcters to type an URL → [PP] Win32 - Dead keys on Swiss German keyboard do not work

Tja, das ist ja etwas peinlich... radha, dead keys on the Swiss German layout are NOT working. For example, what's on a US keyboard the +/= key is a circumflex/` modifier (dead) key. Because it doesn't work with apprunner, characters such as ô and è cannot be typed. The same goes for the ]/} key - when Shift is NOT pressed it works as a dead key, and does NOT work in apprunner. And the AltGR key never works, which means you can't type characters such as '@', making mail pretty well unusable. This would seem to be related to other bugs concerning dead keys on other keyboard layouts.

Re-assigning to tague, since this looks like a dup of another on he has.
these came in too late in the m11 cycle to make it, moving to m12

tague is doomed. Reassign this to myself
Status: NEW → ASSIGNED
Target Milestone: M12 → M11
Mark it assigned M11. Add tague and buster to the cc list.

Is this a duplicate of bug 6053? Both have to do with dead keys on Win32 keyboard layouts...
