It would be nice if the browser would ask you to confirm on close if more than
one tab is open. Often times, I find myself accidentally closing a window that
I don't mean to close. KDE's "konsole" operates in this fashion. a "don't show
this message any more" could be implemented if people don't like this pop up window.

Nick, do you use windowmanager decorations or the keyboard to close windows?
Let's try to avoid annoying dialogs if we can.... :)

Both, but usually window manager..
I can understand the desire to avoid dialog boxes, but creating a tabbed
interface effectively ties together a lot of windows that were once separate...
And I think it's very easy to accidentally close a window that the user didn't
mean to close, especially if pop-ups are set to open in new windows. I can't
really think of another way to prevent accidental closures, perhaps an option
that is disabled by default for a dialog box.
Unless I'm completely alone on this... then I'll retract and learn to look at
my windows before I close them ;)

This is probably a dupe of #108973 but I can't resolve the bug so someone else
has to do it

verified. One comment, though. Dupping a bug that's NEW against one that's
UNCONFIRMED is generally a bad idea. It should go the other way around, not
matter which bug was filed first...
I've set the status on bug 108973 to NEW.
