User Story

As a Badge-earner, I want to display on (or connected to) my MDN profile the MDN-related badges that I have earned, so that I can enhance my reputation in the MDN community. (Need to document how to manage badges on badges.mo for MDN users.)

As a Reader, I want to see what badges a member has earned when I view their profile, so that I can understand their contributions to the MDN community. (bug 971715)

As a Reader or Badge Earner, I want to see details of a particular badge award, so that I can understand what it specifically represents. (bug 971717)

As a Badge Earner, I want to see details about a badge type, so that I can understand how I can earn this badge. (bug 971733)
We have a lot of outstanding bugs related to badges and recognition. They have been delayed for various reasons; right now, they are delayed because we're not certain... * why to implement recognition (what problem does it solve for our users? how does it relate to MDN's KPIs?) * how to implement recognition (use badges? with what issuer? for what milestones? display how?) Some of these questions have previously been answered in bugs blocking bug 671908, but their answers may not have the current state of badges infrastructure or MDN KPI in mind. This bug is a blocking bug for integrating recognition into MDN. It needs a user story that explains why and in broad strokes how.

For background on the value of recognition, see this document: https://docs.google.com/a/mozilla.com/document/d/1kY-Y4yK9TaB8CiY7Eirl5GoreMgff8jKwo5uAlB8CPI/edit# MDN primarily needs to implement the Displayer API of the Open Badge Infrastructure: https://github.com/mozilla/openbadges-backpack/wiki/Using-the-Displayer-API We can use badges.mozilla.org as a badge issuer (and possibly evaluate later whether it makes sense for MDN to be an issuer). I've added display-oriented user stories the User Story field.
