Still occurs with FF 89.
Everything is normal while the stream is running. But when you scroll back in the stream, and the stream ends at the source, the CPU and GPU load goes way up. Then even closing the tab with the video player does not bring the load back down. It seems some background process is causing all the load. You have to close FF completely to get the load down to normal.

Hey Michael,
Does this issue still reproduce for you?

I can't tell. I've upgraded the computer, with a new GPU and drivers, and I have not watched a longer livestream for a while.

Still occurs with FF 102. The new CPU is not loaded so much, but still something inside FF gets locked up, and you even can not load another URL in another tab. You have to restart FF to get back to normal.

Reporter, would you mind attempting to reproduce this, and taking a performance profile, so we can determine whether it's our fault, or maybe a driver, or something else?
Text + video instructions are here: https://blog.paul.cx/post/profiling-firefox-media-workloads/#the-media-preset. You can either paste the profile URL here (please tick the box "request information from other" so we're notified), or send it to <padenot@mozilla.com> (i.e. privately).
