Details

It would be very useful if Mozilla mail/news could automatically fetch message filter rules from a URI at startup or periodically. This would provide a live mechanism to filter spam. The user would subscribe to some antispam service (e.g. spamhaus.org) from the UI. At startup mail/news downloads the latest spam rules list from the site to a local rules file. This rules file contains rules to label matching spam as "Bulk mail" or whatever. The user can set up rules in their own rules.dat that determine what to do with such email.

This bug will become much easier to fix once bug 151612 and bug 151226 are fixed, so depending.

I vote for this one... Spam lists should be taken into consideration, for example the Spamhaus project: http://www.spamhaus.org/
Severity: normal → S3
