Details

I pick up mail via POP3 from two accounts. Sporadically it will stop collecting mail from both accounts without any warning. I set the mua to collect mail every minute from the relevant servers. It is a fault I have been experiencing/noticing since mozilla 0.9.6.

Are you on dialup or otherwise intermittant connection? This might be bug 192040 ...
I am on the end of a 2M leased line. The problem still happens, but a lot less frequently since 1.1 release. (it last happened in January) I don't know if the problem is specific now or just a case of the code getting more robust.
Your pop servers also may not like this. Mine actually gives problems if you check in intervals shorter than five minutes. I think we need a more specific instance of when this is happening.
This appears to be a duplicate of bug 127461; Richard Edgington, do you agree?
It certainly looks that way!
Just noticed the comment from 2003-06-17. I administer one of the pop3 servers for one of the accounts I pick mail up from. When mozilla stops picking up mail it doesn't send a query to the pop3 server. I choose to automatically download mail every minute, inlcuding downloading at startup. The problem is not specific to one of the 3 accounts I use mozilla mail for. I haven't experienced this problem however in a while.
