Hi!
A nice enhancement would be to have the label colours propagate back up the
folder tree as the boldness does when new messages have been received in sub
folders. This would be very useful for prioritising follow-ups to messages.
Cheers,
Jason.

Huh? So if you have a folder with some messages that are green, the folder would
be green? Can you please elaborate what you mean.

One problem is if a folder has messages with different labels, since things can only have one color. If labels (also) had icons associated (like Nautilus' "emblems"), then you could simply display a series of icons next to the folder name.
(Icons would also be more informative as to the meaning of a label, than color).
Perhaps I will open another feature request for icons?
IMHO the important information here is not so much which labels are used but the fact __that__ a folder contains labelled messages. If there are several labels used, a general style (bold, underline ...) could be used.
Icons would be more elegant of course.

OK, I made a feature request for icons: bug #328648.
