On my system it is /usr/local/lib I patched the makefile but a configurable way would be better. This happens in both 03-31 and 04-08 releases. Hub

Try setting MOZILLA_MOTIF_SEARCH_PATH to /usr/local/lib. marking fixed since I added the above variable for exactly this purpose.
