Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; WOW64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/62.0.3202.89 Safari/537.36 OPR/49.0.2725.47 Steps to reproduce: Type text, select it, press Ctrl K, enter hyperlink URL, press enter, continue typing. Actual results: Instead of stopping at the selected text, the hyperlink extends to the subsequently typed text, including new lines created by pressing carriage return. This requires the user to select that subsequent text that should NOT be hyperlinked, and delete the hyperlink. However, that action deletes the entire hyperlink URL, even from text not selected. Expected results: When the user selects text at the end of a line or document, then presses Ctrl K and inserts a hyperlink URL, then presses enter, the system should TERMINATE the hyperlink and NOT extend it to subsequently typed text. In other words, a hyperlink should NEVER extend to subsequently typed text, NOT EVER, throughout Eternity. The hyperlinking and subsequent typing should function precisely the way it does in the compose windows of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Gmail, yahoo mail, and (apparently) EVERY word processor known to man OTHER than Thundebird. I complained about Thunderbird's loathsome designed-in hyperlink extension bug to your developers several years ago. The responder told me the hyperlink extension was a feature, not a bug. I guessed that he wanted users to hate Thunderbird. To this day I hate the "feature" so badly that I plan to switch to another email program. The bug is inexcusable and the fix is long overdue.
