We can set a "general.useragent.override.www.google.com" pref with a Chrome UA string, but we need to confirm that this pref overrides both HTTP and XHR requests. We will need to spoof on at least these eTLD+1 addresses used by our Fennec experiment: (www|encrypted|maps)\.google\.com https://searchfox.org/mozilla-central/rev/196560b95f191b48ff7cba7c2ba9237bba6b5b6a/mobile/android/extensions/gws-and-facebook-chrome-spoof/bootstrap.js#12
P1 bug that we may want to uplift to GV 62 Beta

WONTFIX. Google has launched an improved (but not tier 1) mobile search experience to Firefox for Android, so we don't need to spoof the Chrome UA string. There are still other compat bugs (in Gecko and google.com) that prevent Google from serving their tier 1 mobile search experience to Firefox for Android. See meta bug 975444.

(In reply to Chris Peterson [:cpeterson] from comment #3) > Google has launched an improved I wouldn't call being restricted to whatever three kinds of search types Google has decided to be the most relevant for me an improvement over being able to freely choose among Images, Videos, Maps, News, Books, etc.
