Downloaded Mozilla 1.0 release today - great job, I like it :-) But I could not
find out how to remove the text labels from the navigation bar... Tried the
help function, but the help on navigation toolbar is _very_ minimal. Some
people on newsgroups have suggested editing some "user-Chrome.css", but I can
not find that file...

you have to create it, the file's name should be userChrome.css and there
should be a sample version lying around.
try defaults\profile\chrome\userChrome-example.css (path relative to
mozilla.exe)
there's also information about this file in
http://www.mozilla.org/unix/customizing.html (yes it's maintained by a unix
user, but the css stuff is generally cross platform [XP])
Also, Document Inspector (tools>web dev...>...inspector) can help you design,
test and compose css rules [although it doesn't serialize them :-(]
