I was wondering about VRML support. Since Mozilla already has SVG support, bringing it to all platforms, I think VRML would be the next move: One source of info I found was: http://www.web3d.org/ It's a wonderful standard that has been struggling due to lack of viewers. The plugins I have tried all stink. I think that is the primary reason of it not living up to it's goal. Until recently I thought SVG wouldn't suvive either. Then Mozilla stepped in. Many support Web3D already: http://www.web3d.org/resources/members.htm I think it is necessary for Mozilla to support standards other than W3C, provided they are standards and do recieve support from corporations. New forms of bringing media over the internet to the consumer is just going to become more popular, which is why SVG is great, but it doesn't fit the bill 100%. VRML and such are great technologies.

This is not a dupe. Bug 57067 was about supporting VRML plugins, not native VRML support. I think X3D, the predecessor to VRML would be very impressive in Mozilla, because like native SVG, it would allow dynamic manipulation of 3D objects. The X3D standard is XML compliant. This of course would be the lowest priority there is, unless there was somebody willing to devote his/her time to it.
