Personally, I like this feature and have been using it for a while now. It's easier than using the menu.

Checking this will allow you to file the group of tabs as a bookmark group. Nowhere in the bug, and nowhere in the attachment description does it mention this ugly feature.

the patch is just to backout the two lines that jag inserted into navigator.xul (url).

The current behavior is very ill-advised -- clicking on something which is normally used for dragging shouldn't ever open a dialog. Normal behavior (as implemented in every file manager I've seen) is just to select the item, i.e. bug 52784.
