build 20020800908 Windows XP, classic Theme
New Logitech cordless optical mouse with mouseware 9.61.156
Mozilla mouse wheel settings:
- No modifier key: scroll the document by 6 lines
- control: make the text larger or smaller
Mouseware settings:
- buttons:
- wheel set as "middle button"
- scrolling set at 6 lines
- "use MS office compatible scrolling" is unchecked
Steps to reproduce the bug :
- go to a text page, text is at 100%
- ctrl+wheelscroll one wheel step (forward or backward), text siez is set to 80%
or 120%
Reproducable : always
Expected result: text should increase/decrease with 10% steps like my old
Logitech regular mouse used to do
Actual result: 20% steps
Observations :
- if I set scrolling to "none" in MouseWare, I get 10% steps in Mozilla but the
problem is that mouse-wheel scrolling becomes unavailable in all other applications.
- Setting the mouse-wheel as a middle button in Mouseware is the only way to
enable middle-button clicking on links, hence the choice.
- I also notice that scrolling in Mozilla doesn't seem as precise and reliable
as it used to be with my old mouse. I set a 6 lines scrolling step but I
sometimes get the impression that it is a 5 or 7 step. I think that Mozilla and
mouseware are someway interfering.

I found out a very strange thing about it, I know of one page that behaves
correctly (10% increase/decrease), it is the bug report 109551 !!
BTW, I put the bug in the Browser component, but it is also visible in the mail
window.

Confirmed, because of the dup. ->bryner, as he owns 20618 also.
pascal.chevrel: if you check "MS office compatibility settings" in mouseware,
does the same problem appear?

I have totally uninstalled mouseware and use WinXP generic driver which works
fine (using the mouse wheel in Mozilla is more important to me than using
mouseware options). If I remember correctly, the MS Office compatibility setting
didn't change anything, I would have to reinstall mouseware. There is a new
version of mouseware (9.73), I will probably try this week-end.
