User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020908 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2a) Gecko/20020908 http and https links within applications are handled differently in Mozilla, but I think they should be handled the same in terms of "when to open a new window and when not". If I click a http link in my mail client for example, it opens in the window/tab that I opened last, which is the way I like it. But when I double click a https link, it opens a new window first and tries to open the link there first. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Once double click a http and once a https link Actual Results: Once it opens in the tab/window created last, once it creates a new window. Expected Results: It should always behave the same. Personally I think it should always open in the tab/window opened last, but some users may disagree; I always suggested as preference setting for that, but that's already another bug.

Summary: http and https links are not → http links open in already existing window, https links create a new one
This appears to happen from outside apps, such as Office, but does not happen from chatzilla (in chatzilla, both types of links open in the last used tab). This is also reproducable using windows .url files. The https link opens in a new window. I guess this is a bug, unless this is the expected action.

Also see bug 75138, any fix to this problem needs to address that one as well.

This appears to be fixed now. WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5a) Gecko/20030606. It appears to open both kinds of links in New Window, but this is now editable via another config option. Reporter, verify and mark WFM if it does.
