Evolution has been put into broad usage nowadays. Many guys use mozilla also use evolution, and vice versa. Currently, however, its not possible to access Evolution's address book data from mozilla directly. We regard this is a very important feature to add.

Support for accessing Evolution address books is already available as an addon. It is available from Canonical for Ubuntu distributions, but it is a project at Launchpad as a package or source for any *nix distribution. The only limitation is that Thunderbird cannot edit or delete Evolution created address books. This is yet another quirk due to one of a few Mozilla's nonstandard format of common file formats like mbox files. I believe that access can be changed to read and write, but this could corrupt the Evolution address book. Read up on the project at http://launchpad.net/thunderbird-eds-extension
