* TITLE/SUMMARY
[PP] Resize browser window to short heights -> corrupted vertical scroll bar
(split out of bug #5548)
* STEPS TO REPRODUCE
0) Launch Apprunner
1) Using any web page (I used www.mozilla.org), reduce the height of the browser
window to the minimum allowed.
* RESULT
- What happened
The vertical scroll arrow gets replaced with either a horiontal scroll arrow, or
two miniature scroll arrows. Sometimes, you may need to shrink the width of the
browser window to see it.
- What was expected
Ultimately, we shouldn't be allowing users to shrink the window on Mac beyond a
certain size. It can take a minute to reproduce; for examples, see the screen
shots attached --- PICT format to save time, and since anyone trying to fix this
will have a Mac. ;)
Other Mac apps don't allow this --- when we did the Mac OS 8 Appearance Manager
way back in 1996-1997, I don't think any consideration was given to the effects
of shrinking a window to the dimensions at which scroll arrows don't fit.
Certainly, we didn't test it, as no applications in use invoked that behavior.
(It was possible --- I forget how --- within the Finder due to a bug, but that
was fixed in 8.5.)
* REGRESSION
- Occurs On
Mac OS Apprunner (1999102211 Mozilla build & 1999102109 Commercial build
[Mac OS 8.6])
- Doesn't Occur On
Win32 Apprunner (999102208 build [NT 4, Service Pack 5])
Linux Apprunner (1999102208 build [RH 6.0/GNOME])
* CONFIGURATIONS TESTED
- [Mac] Beige Power Mac G3 (266 MHz PowerPC 750), 96 MB RAM (VM on; 1 MB of VM
used), 1024x768 (Thousands of Colors), Mac OS 8.6
- [Win32] Vectra VL (233 MHz P2), 96 MB RAM, 800x600 (True Color), NT 4.0 SP5.
- [Linux] Vectra VL (266 MHz P2), 96 MB RAM. Red Hat Linux 6.0 (GNOME).

I can't reproduce this on my PB3400, 8.6, same build & page. I can get the
lower arrow to disappear if I resize to minimal height, then expand width until
horizontal scrollbar is gone.
reassigning to evaughan as p4 for m14

We currently aren't putting restrictions on window min size. We should. But
currenly the scrollbars just dissappear if they get too small to render. When we
get a new feature called flexdepth into boxes we will actually be able to
make squeeze into tiny little arrows. But a min size on the window would be
nice eventually.

Still no minimum size in 20030311 OSX. And 20030306 Win98 exhibits equally bad
behavior.
