Details

(Keywords: access)

Affected Versions:

  • All the latest firefox versions, including the old certificate page design

Tested on:

  • MacOS 10.15

Preconditions:

  • Have Voice-Over enabled

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Go to https://wrong.host.badssl.com

Expected Results:
The screen reader should be able to read out loud all the content from the certificate page on page load:

  • Title, description, buttons, Lean More...

Actual Result:
The screen reader does not read the error content of the page. Only the title and the buttons. The user will not be able to understand what is the certificate error page about.
Can't be enforced using Tab navigation.

Notes:
This is also reproducible on the old design of the certificate page.
On Windows 10 with NVDA, this is also happening but if you hover over to content it will read it out loud. Does not follow 100% my expected point, let me know if I should submit a new bug or not.

This works as expected. The focused element should recieve VO cursor and be spoken. The title of the document gives the user context. VO+Next/VO+Prev works as expected for reading the entire page.

Morgan, does this seem like a not a bug to you too? If not, can you close it as wont fix?

works as expected here, too.
