i can save a mail message as a template when i'm in a mail compose window, but i can't when viewing a message in the 3pane or standalone windows. thought this used to work (it does in 7.0rtm). will see if i can narrow down when this regressed on the trunk.

ugh, forgot to add: when the save fails, i get an alert dlg saying "The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: Message contains bare newlines." no js console output, though.

bug 132428 - existing problem with save as template from 3-pane on Mac (POP).

regressed on the trunk sometime btwn the 2002.09.24 (works) and 2002.09.26 (broken). feel free to dup this, as needed...

I just tried in today's trunk build and was successfuly able to save as template from both the 3-pane and standalone window -- win98. It may be message content problem.

here's a [spam] msg that resulted in the error when saving as template. not sure what the appropriate mime would be for .eml, so trying the auto-detect feature for bugzilla attachments...

This is regression from 7.02. I still see this on linux build 20030331 trunk and macosx 20030325 trunk for saving to Templates folders on IMAP mail accounts only. File >Save As > Template gives error Sarah reported above. Does not happen on windows systems. This is not a dup of 132428 which is verified as wfm and was on POP only. Any type of message causes this error. Work around is to drag and drop message to Template folder. nominating since this regression fails in our BFT (Basic Functional Tests) looking for regression.

Generally, this bug is WFM, if the message (including the message attached here) is in the Inbox. In Local Folders (or in News and probably in RSS -- bug 331876), it's not saved. I see things working OK with Seamonkey 1.0 and 1.5-0518. Sairuh, do you concur? But see bug 320102 (Thunderbird) -- Save As | Template is not working at all, with recent 2a1/3a1 builds.

Still an issue, tested with Local Folders and SeaMonkey trunk.
