Steps to reproduce:

Thunderbird takes a LONG time to load up.
Per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1139817 :

I deleted the below which were found in my Thunderbird profile folder prior to starting up Thunderbird.
Deleted all these files - they should be auto recreated.

parent.lock

[ old parent.lock]-not present
session.json
xulstore.json

After deletion Thunderbird starts up easier. However, somehow these files get re-populated into the profile so a future opening of Thunderbird is slow again. Should these files be deleted by Thunderbird when it closes?

I am not sure what to do. May need to copy some of profile and re-intall Thunderbird.
Need to know what files to copy and not copy.

I welcome any suggestions to rectify this problem with loading.

Expected results:

Faster loading

parent.lock is expected to be created when the profile is in use. Maybe you're trying to start but Thunderbird was shutting down, or you're somehow trying to start another instance while already running.

Please clarify tb102found.

Is this a bug in Thunderbird version or has my configuration files been corrupted?
Should I re-install Thunderbird? If so, any files in my profile folder that I should delete prior to any transfer.

That citation is about Thunderbird NOT loading. So it's not relevant to Thunderbird being slow.

I don't have anything further at this time.

I disabled Flux app from my Win10 PC. Thunderbird open much faster after doing so. It seems like Flux may be in conflict with recent Thunderbird versions. I have about 50-60% in memory so it should not be a RAM issue; unless a problem loading up.

Need to check into this further.

On further examination after re-enabling Flux Thunderbird now opens faster again. Perhaps disabling Flux allowed Thunderbird to reset somehow.

Thunderbird opens in 6-10 seconds now but before disable of flux (re-enabled now) it took about 1-2+ minutes to open. I had to delete parentlock, session.json, and xulstore files to get it to open faster.

Not sure how the temporary disable of flux allowed Thunderbird to reset.

Looking into this a couple days ago as still having this problem. I do not think that disabling flux was the solution although it did do something. I have still had problems with slow load up.

Upon further evaluation I found that it seems like my Avast must have been preventing Thunderbird from opening easily. I disabled Avast and things loaded faster, about 20 seconds. I then added thunderbird as an exception and this helped. Avast seems to have made some recent program changes that have affected Mozilla Thunderbird. [ In fact, another recent Avast program change I found to prevent my from easily transferring files from my smartphone to my PC; disabling Avst was the solution]

So, NOW problem may have been found! Thank you.
