Gagan had a sweet idea to turn ftp:// layout and file:// layout and http:// directory layout into XML objects (is that the right term?). This would be cool for a number of reasons - but I like it because then the XPFE guys can use it to implement a sweet ftp client.

Not. Unless they are planning on writing an extra layer to parse output from Netlib and convert to XML.

Sorry, I just knew that they were going to be working on a new FTP front-end. Is it going to use XML and thus require support from Netlib?

Per DP's suggestion marking these till M8. Though Necko lands with M7, we will be able to verify it for M8.

I'm moving this to target M9, Necko will be enabled somewhere during late M8 or early M9. We will need to get on this and it cannot be postponed past the M9 milestone.

Changing all Networking Library/Browser bugs to Networking-Core component for Browser. Occasionally, Bugzilla will burp and cause Verified bugs to reopen when I do this in a bulk change. If this happens, I will fix. ;-)

Each protocol has a different owner now... FTP = Jud, File= Warren and I will look into HTTP. However this isn't that critical for now so pushing until leater...
