I have been using Mozilla 1.0 for a while, then installed 1.2b. Using only one NNTP server, it worked well in reading and posting. Today I added a second NNTP server, "news.gmane.org", everything looked working properly while reading both servers. But when I tried to post a message to the first NNTP server, 1) error message on Mozilla Mail & News <error message window title> Aleart <body inside the window, with "!" icon> A News (NNTP) error occured: No valid newsgroups in "alt.test" here "alt.test" was the newsgroup I tried to post (test), not the name of news server that the message supposed to tell. 2) subsequently, I get error message from Mozilla Composer, <error message window title> Send Message Error <body inside the window, with "!" icon> Sending of message failed The message could not be poste because connecting to the news server failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing connections. Please verify that your news server setting is correct and try again, or else contact your network administrator. I removed the 2nd NNTP server in "Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings..", then I could post to the first NNTP server normally. I added again the 2nd NNTP server, then the same error reproduced. I tried to post to 2nd server, ("gmane.test" newsgrou) it went through without the error message. But the message doesn't appear there yet. Since it is the first time to post to news.gmane.org server, I can't judge if this delay is normal, or if the message has properly reached and was accepted there. muchan@promikra.si
This is a combination of bug 54911 and bug 80542. Note that the fix for both of these bugs is probably inclusive. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 54911 ***
