Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win98; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021126 This is a horrible usability issue. When I use the Trackpoint on the Thinkpad, the mouse pointer becomes an hourglass and then flips into the "slider" logo, and then back to hourglass and so forth -- at the speed of maybe 20 changes per second. But the page is not scrolling. However, if I pull the Trackpoint stronger, then the page finally scrolls. Really ugly. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just use the trackpoint to scroll a page. Actual Results: At first wont scrol, but instead the pointer intermittently changes between the hourglass and the "sliding" icon at a pace of 15-20 times per second. If you drag the trackpoint stronger, the page starts to scroll but the pointer is still jerking. Expected Results: Smoothly scroll the page while the pointer changes to the "sliding" icon. The speed of the scrolling should be proportional to the forceof the draggingof the Trackpooint. This happens both in Win98 and 95. This happens with several Trackpoint drivers. This happens with all Mozilla builds tested. It never happens with Netscape 4.x, any 4.x version. In fact, it never happens with any other Windows application.
I am using Windows XP and have the same proble with Thinkpad X20, 600X and T20 series machines. Trackpoint works on all windows applications I have includingNetscape 4.0.
I'm using Windows 2000 and ThinkPad T21 and have the same problem, with the difference that it does not show an hourglass, it just does not scroll. It works perfectly well in all other Windows applications that I use.
