scroll button on Presario 906 trackpad does not scroll webpages

My Compaq Presario 906 has a scroll button under the trackpad that has
up/down/left/right capabilities. I have up and down set to scroll pages and
left and right set to forward and back. Left and right function correctly, but
up and down do not scroll. I just get the "you can't do that" beep.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Hardware specific...not sure if you'll be able to reproduce it.

what mouse driver version are you running ?
Does upgrading to latest driver version fix the issue ?
