In 4.5 the highlights on the checkboxes in the left control bar appear much like a white drop-shadow; however, in NGLayout they are much larger than the checkboxes and are rather detrimental to the look of the page.

The highlight is not part of the checkbox. Its a box positioned under the checkbox to give it the extra white highlight. I assume it's a layout bug. There are other parts of the page which are not layed out correctly. The "Search the Web title" is too far up. It goes underneath the HotBot logo and the red box drawn behind the search button is too wide. Chris, I'm guessing this is a table issue so I'm reassigning it you.

Moving to M8.

I can't see the problem on my WinNT debug build. In fact the highlight is smaller than in Nav4.5. Please verify this on Win95. ChrisP can you also file a new bug to address the things that Kevin mentioned, assumming there isn't already one filed.

ChrisP: FYI, dbaron has addressed the particular issue of the CSS related issues for the placement of 'Search the Web', etc. in bug #6327 (and previously in bug #5029). This is apparently an authorship issue for Hotbot, and 6327 is assigned to ekrock M15 for him to do the evangelical thing.

In the June 1 build, I don't see this problem as described on Hotbot.
