When I open Help/About Mozilla to copy the versin information, a new window is opened. I just stopped the time closing this window: 7 seconds. Needs time to write a 1.4 MB bookmarksfile? So maybe this is a dupe of Bug 101319 save bookmarks only when closing last window (slow/remote disk) Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Have a fat bookmarksfile 2.add bookmarks in different folders 3. or simply open a new window, close it Actual Results: 7 seconds delay Expected Results: less than a second delay Bookmarks are written so often because of Bug 131105 crash causes loss of bookmarks added during current session but I would prefer that solution against general slowness Bug 101319 save bookmarks only when closing last window (slow/remote disk) Maybe that should be selectable with a preference, people who never boot and have long uptimes are loosing more than the three bookmarks I add per session. So I would suggest a preference for writing bookmarks, in the form of a delay, specified in minutes. delay = 0 fixes bug 131105, every bookmark is written instantly. delay = 600 fixes bug 101319, bookmarks are written after 600 minutes or closing of last window. delay = 15 would write all 15 minutes, if there was a change. If that delay would be retriggerable, it would be less annoying. Example: delay 5, new bookmarks at 0, 3, 7, 10, 16 min without retriggering, bookmarks would be written at minute 5 (0,3), minute 10 (7,10) and 21 (16) with retriggering, bookmarks would be written at minute 15 (0,3,7,10) and 21 (16) Don´t know, if this bug is a dupe, or a RFE.
