Addresses separated by semicolons don't wrap, window expands inconveniently

I have messages imported from Outlook in which the To:, CC: and BCC: lines
consist of a list of addresses separated by semicolons and spaces, no commas or
new lines. These lists of addresses do not wrap on to new lines, which happens
with regular comma separated lists of addresses. In fact Mozilla seems to treat
the entire line as a single address. So the mail window pane expands in width as
far as possible to fit the address list on a single line. But as very often the
address list is still too long (the 25% width expansion is insufficient), the
window expansion is in vain and has highly inconvenient results e.g. in the top
right pane I can see only subjects listed, and in the bottom right pane much of
the text and the scroll bar disappears; and the left pane becomes so narrow that
it is unusable. In short, the message is unviewable (so this is not a minor
bug). The first time I got this I thought the situation was unrecoverable, but
fortunately Mozilla returns to normal when I click on a message in the top right
pane which doesn't have a long address line.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find or compose a message with a To: line consisting of many addresses,
several hundred characters, separated by semicolons and spaces but no commas or
new lines
2. Click on it
Actual Results:
Mozilla attempts to display the address list on one line. Right hand panes
expanded as far to the left as possible, left pane becomes so narrow as to be
useless. Also they expand to the right off the screen and so much of their
contents becomes invisible and inaccessible.
Expected Results:
Wrapped the address list on to multiple lines, either after a semicolon or at
any space. Not resized the windows. Such window resizing should probably never
be attempted anyway especially when the results are still too big for the screen
- better alternatives are wrapping on to new line (at any character if
necessary) and adding horizontal scroll bars.
You may say that it is illegal to have mail addresses separated by semicolons.
That means the bug is elsewhere, in the Outlook mail import procedure, which
generates addresses in this format. Even so, I would suggest that Mozilla ought
to do something more sensible even when it is given bad data to display.
