Need a QA Assigned field in Bugzilla in order to assign bugs for regression and verification to QA testers both internal and external.

Agreed this filed should be called QA Contact. terry, could you add this field with a query for it soon?

Actually need field to be available in a new bug as well as an open bug. And of course in a query. terry, mail and CCK folks starting to enter the scene here. What't the ETA on addding the QA Contact field. Are we still cool to add? Will help me move those Verifications thru quickly. Thanks!

Hopefully, I'll make this all appear tomorrow (1/27). It doesn't make sense to me that a person entering in a new bug would generally know who the QA contact would be. I assumed that QA people would be going over bugs, looking for one with no QA contact (note to self: make sure searching for empty QA contact field is easy!) Another thing which I could see doing (though not immediately) is having a default QA contact for each component, just as there is a default owner now. But I really want to keep the "enter a new bug" screen as simple as possible.

Yeah. Keep the New bug screen clean. Sounds good. If you can do QA Contact field for after a new bug is created soon that would be super-doop! Do you want me to generate a QA Contact list for automated fill in?

So, tomorrow (I hope), QA Contact will appear when you edit a bug, but that field won't be available on the form to create a new bug. I think we agree on that. Go ahead and generate a list of initial QA Contacts, based on project and component. I'll start thinking about coding that up (and maybe coding up a way so that *you* can maintain that list, rather than me having to do it!)
