spun off from bug 128153 (see bug 128153 comment #89) Standard Symbols L is a free replacement for Adobe Symbol and is available on virtually all Linux distributions with ghostscript installed.
This has much of what needs doing but the warning message still needs to be hushed: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=133709#c12
