User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040626 Firefox/0.9.1
Build Identifier:
The GetMail button does not work (when clicked, no activity results) when all
(2) pop3 accounts are set to use the Global Inbox option.
Using the GetMail context menu (from the button's down arrow) mail can be
properly retrieved using either the general Get All New Messages or the account
specific options.
However, when I choose not to use the Global Inbox:
1. With Each account using seperate inboxes, the GetMail button acts according
to design and retrieves the mail for the current account.
2. With One account set to use it's own inbox and the second account set to use
the first account's inbox (but not the Global Inbox), The GetMail button
properly retrieves e-mail for both accounts
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
0. Setup two different pop3 accounts (two different accounts on the same mail
server) to use the Global Inbox.
1. Click GetMail button
Actual Results:
Nothing!
Expected Results:
Mail for both accounts should be checked (since have the appropriate checkbox
validated in the "Advanced Server Settings" of the accounts.
The first account uses a stored password, however the second account does not
use a stored password, thus it must be entered manually upon retrieval.
This may be similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=259661,
however alternate methods (GetMail Context Menu -- down arrow) work fine.
This differs from issues related to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=258077 in that no mail retrieval is
attempted (this has been verified by pop3 logs).

what operating system did you see this on?
this bug occurs for me when using 20041117-0.9 on Mac OS X. the menu off of the
Get Messages button --but *not* the button itself *or* Cmd+T-- works.
however, oddly, this was not a problem on Windows XP sp2. need to see if this
occurs on linux...

fwiw, not a problem on linux (tested with 2004111906-0.9).
could this be a dup/variation of bug 259212?
Just a note that I see this on a number of machines. Thunderbird 1.5 and Windows XP. I would love to be able to just hook the "Get All New Messages" (which works fine) up to the button until this problem is fixed.

This is still happening under 2.0.0.16, as the duplicate bug that I created suggests.
