User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 The location of the cache is in the user profile area under the "Application Data" directory which is one that gets pushed if using roaming profiles in Windows. This actually slows logons/logoffs down drastically. In Netscape 7.x you can change the cache location and logons go from 3 minutes to 10 seconds. Being able to change the location helps but is still a pain when this has to be done for every user in our organization. Also sometimes files within this cache directory will cause the profile not to push at all and gives a nasty message of the file that is causing the profile not to upload. I know most don't like roaming profiles but we are an organization trying to move away from the MS world of doing things like a lot of people are trying. Roaming profiles are crucial while we still have those painful all important .pst files to back up in users profiles. This would be a major improvement if the cache location was moved to the "Local Settings/Application Data" directory to improve logon/logoffs. Once I move the cache in the Netscape browser and delete the directories from it's original location(important to do this) logons/logoffs are almost instant. IE had the same flaw years ago and had to move the cache directory as well. Other then that Firefox rocks. PLEASE FIX Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. setup roaming profiles 2. Do some browsing for a day to fill the cache 3. Then try logging off/logging on and it will be very slow. 4. Also Many times it will fail altogether but this could be 1 out of 100 times or 3 times a week. I can't explain why a file would cause this to fail. Actual Results: Logon/logoff slows to a crawl. Expected Results: If cache file is moved and directory deleted out of the the roaming section of the profile logons are fast.

(In reply to comment #1) > you can do that manually > http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/tips#oth_cache Setting the cache manually means in a typical roaming profile / redirected folder situation that several users will be pointing to the same cache location which would cause problems. The only way to get around this is to use a custom profile location which isn't in application data.
