User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041107 Firefox/1.0 I read the FAQ's, installed the latest driver from synaptics as suggested. I can scroll I.E. and all windows programs but nothing in the mozilla firefox browser. As I slide or hit a scroll button a scroller comes onto the screen but is nonfunctional. The up and down, side to side arrows are functional and will scroll. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.find a page that requires scrolling 2.slide finger down right side of touchpad 3. Actual Results: no scrolling occured however a scroller (mini) appeared. Expected Results: it should scroll the page this is on a compaq presario 700 (US) running XP Pro using most recent synaptics touchpad update as of 1/9/05

I have the same problem with a synaptics touchpad on an hp pavilion laptop. I recently installed an update for the touchpad (through windows update), and now the touchpad scrolling works in neither the vertical nor horizontal direction. When I try to scroll, the mouse icon changes to indicate that I am scrolling, but the window does not actually scroll. I found bug 228764, and therefore checked SynTPEnh.ini, but it has the correct entry for mozilla, as stated in that bug report. I also went to www.synaptics.com and found an updated version of the driver (version 7.12.7). Looking at the SynTPEnh.ini file in that version shows that it has the exact same entry for Mozilla. I did not actually install that version, because it is a generic rather than platform-specific driver, which apparently could potentially be problematic. On a possibly related note, previous to installing this synaptic update from windows update, only the vertical scrolling on the touchpad worked, not the horizontal scrolling, despite the fact that both were enabled and worked in other programs. I am running windows xp, firefox version 1.0, synaptics version 7.12.2 on an hp pavilion zt3000.
I should specify that by "recently", I mean yesterday (2/8/05). (In reply to comment #1) > I have the same problem with a synaptics touchpad on an hp pavilion laptop.
