I get an irritating popup I have to click away with URLs that give a 404, even if the loading was in an other tab. Would like a less intrusive solution for bad urls

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl-NL; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041202 Firefox/1.0 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; nl-NL; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041202 Firefox/1.0 When firefox trys to load a URL and it does not exist it gives an alert: [url] could not be found. Please check the name and try again. I regularly open multiple tabs in background if I find a list of links and it is irritating to get some alerts of pages not found when I have not even opened that tab. It gets me out of the browsing experience and click alerts away. They should be at least be confined to the tab they belong to. I suggest a less intusive solution which does not require you to click away to continue and confined to tab. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open a not existing link in a background tab Actual Results: 2. you will get the error: '[url] could not be found. Please check the name and try again' while browsing on the old tab 3. you have to click it away before you can continue Expected Results: Show the alert only in the relevant tab when you open it or another solution than alerts for not found problem. Maybe it is possible to change the favicon of the tab and addressbar and tab to a not found icon instead of an alert. (so you can see it failed before you click the tab) And maybe it is possible to change the color of the address bar to red and show a friendly 'not found' page like IE. This would make the browsing experience smoother in my opinion by not forcing the user to click the alerts away.
