(This bug imported from BugSplat, Netscape's internal bugsystem. It was known there as bug #153392 http://scopus.netscape.com/bugsplat/show_bug.cgi?id=153392 Imported into Bugzilla on 02/04/99 13:41) Break down Bug 91117 to seperate bugs so we can deal with it. I will close Bug 91117 after the break down. Dear Daniel, There is X11 Communicator 4.02 Cyrillic (KOI8-R) encoding support bug list: o This version always shows Russian Mail/News Subjects using wrong š ISO-8859-1 font instead of KOI8-R one. Have a look at the browsers comparison table at http://www.nagual.pp.ru/~ache/main.html#tests to see how your software compares to a number of other browsers with regard to KOI8-R support. Regards, Gleb. gleb@opentech.olvit.ru
I believe this is happend when they use communicator on non Russian locale. WE have limitation on Motif 's locale model. Maybe we should work around that model for non-CJK text. (CJK text have to bind with locale model for input method.)
bob: I assign this to you since Mail/News is out of the scope of Gromit. Please tell us what should we do about mail/news related bug in our current bug list.

Marina, please verify this bug. We need to look at the entire range of the new KOI8-R table to make sure that we are in compliance. Note that the comparison table mentioned by Gleb does not list the Euro symbol. I guess this is one exception we should keep in mind.
Frank, is the KOI8-R table you/Cata checked in the same thing as the 4.x table or much closer to the publihsed KOI8-R table? Particualrly with respect to the drawing/geometric symbols (0x80 - 0xBD).

The KOI8-R code table renders with no problem in 6/10/99 build(used the URL suggested above: "http://nagual.pp.ru/~ache/koi8/framed-koi8.html")I can not imput KOI8-R in the Mail yet, but can view it OK from 4.x (see comments to the bug# 5836)
