User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050915 Firefox/1.0.7 The bar appeared a week or two ago. I don't know why - can't remember exactly when. The bar size is the same regardless of the window size. A red caret (^) symbol shows up on the bottom, left edge of the mysterious gray bar. I wish I could tell you more. Reproducible: Always It only happens in Firefox, not in I.E. It shows up on all Firefox windows, even mail messages. In fact, I can see it at the bottom of this page. How can I attach a screen print of the problem? I'll see if you give me the opportunity when I submit this. I said it was trivial severity - because it is just cosmetic. But, boy, it is sure annoying, and I'd think you'd want to fix it.
Hm, I see that you already tried a new profile so it is not caused by a bad extension. In that case this is probably a duplicate of Bug 314674. To resolve the problem, delete first your installation folder and install the latest version: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/
Lois, do you see this when you start Firefox in safe mode? http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode

identical problem in latest firefox (Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5), suse linux, default and Noia 2.0 themes, with or without any extensions.
Changed OS and platform to "all" because this bug also appears in Firefox 1.5 on OS X (10.4.3): Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
One of you guys' extensions or themes is breaking stuff. As making@ufl.edu noted, it might be Noia 2.0. Either way, there's nothing Firefox can do about it. The theme owner will have to fix this. See http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/faq#troubleshooting for how to fix this.
