User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; (R1 1.5); InfoPath.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.2) Gecko/20060308 Firefox/1.5.0.2 If I leave openned some firefox windows, and in particular the Doanload Manager window, then openning a new window on a website that contains a HTML form, I can click on the fields of the form to fill them, but as soon as I type on the keyboard, all inputs are redirected into the Find Toolbar field of firefox that opens suddenly by itself, and I can never fill the fields of the form, even if I open another window, or reload the page, and it seems that the only solution, is to close all firefox windows, and then re-opening a fresh one, but this is a big problem if it requires also closing the Download Manager Window, and then loose all the downloading files ! I have given an URL with a simple form, but any other website with form will do. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1.download more than 1 big file. 2.open a website with HTML form 3.field the form of the website Actual Results: the find toolbar opens itself and catches all keyboard inputs, instead of letting me filling the webpage form Expected Results: I should be able to fill all the fields in a HTML form, without the need to close all previous firefox windows, including the download manager window.

how are you opening more windows? can you reproduce this bug when using ctrl+n to open new windows?
(In reply to comment #1) > how are you opening more windows? can you reproduce this bug when using ctrl+n > to open new windows? I open new windows with the icon not from the menus.
I have had a similar problem using Firefox 1.5.0.7 and version 2 for both PC and Mac OS X. When I go to fill in a form and click immediately into the message area (ignoring the required subject field) and start typing, the cursor automatically redirects itself to the required subject field above the message box, If I continue typing all of my text goes into the subject field rather than the message field. however if I create a new message or reply to a message and if I wait a few moments and then choose the message field I can successfully type in the message without it redirecting, it seems like there is a few seconds delay as it checks to see if the required subject field needs attention. This bug specifically happens with forms in WebCT Campus edition 6 I have tested forms in WebCT in Internet Explorer on both PC and Mac and it does not occur, it only occurs when using WebCT with Firefox on PC or Mac Something else that may cause this is the fact that Firefox causes the cursor to default to the end of a line of text in the required field, perhaps it does not see that there is text to the left of the cursor and then when typing the message it jumps back up to the subject field
Actually your "bug" isnt a firefox bug. I know about it since long : When I use a webmail, like Hotmail, there is a built-in script in the web page of the webmail (hotmail, ...), that automatically set the cursor in a default place, like the subject field, and if you type immediately in the message area, you find yourself finishing typing in this default field (subject, ...). But if you wait the webmail finishes its script, then you can choose the correct area where you want to type, and there is no more redirection : that is the proof that this "bug" is not one from firefox, and moreover, it has nothing to do with the initial but openned here, where any typing in any field of any Web Form (not only webmail !), redirect the typing to the Find Toolbar of Firefox, and not to another field of the Form, and this happens when there is more than 1 windows of firefox openned directly by double-clicking on the app icon many times, it does not hapen when a single firefox window is open ! Thanks anyway. Bye.
