wizard size on windows is not the "standard" size
this is something that robert strong pointed out, and I have a screen shot that demonstrates it.
it's particularly noticeable now, after the fix for bug #329729, for major updates with incompatible extensions.
I'll attach a screen shot of that as well.

this particular problem is spun off to bug #349590, and there is a screen shot in that bug.

We should get screenshots of "standard" wizard UI sizes on XP, Vista, GNOME and OSX, as far as such things exist. Then we can come up with the right sizes to use here.

The UI for the Vista new style wizards has changed quite a lot... new controls for going back for example and no longer adhering to a fixed size. There are still old style wizards which match our current layout for a wizard in the OS's UI as well.

beltzner doesn't want to make the UI look like a wizard so adhering to the standard size isn't important. Resolving -> wontfix
