Very odd how that error popped up for you though. Are you able to install another previous version of Firefox or one of the nightly builds successfully?

Valery, is this still a problem? If it is can you try installing Firefox 3.1 Beta 3?

I believe this is fixed in 3.5 and since there is no response to comment #5
resolving -> incomplete.

STR:
1. Create a new folder on disk ("e:\1\")
2. Install Firefox - custom install
3. Enter the installation path manually via the text box ("e:\1\")
4. Press Next
AR: You don't have sufficient disk space to install (exactly the screenshot attached)
Repro on nightly 23, ff 4.0.1
Note: "e:\1" instead of "e:\1\" at step 3) works fine

I don't think that's the same bug Paul. As per the screenshot the installation folder was the default. Considering how old this bug is I'd rather you file a new bug for your specific STR, unless of course you can reproduce this using the default installation directory.

Reproducible with the default installation folder if it already exists.

And the folder is removed after quitting the setup.

Can you please clarify your steps to reproduce involving the default installation folder? What is the impact of this bug? Does it prevent installation or usage of Firefox?

Actually I was able to reproduce this on the default installation folder due another issue - bug 871964. Manually editing the installation folder from "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.9" to "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\" makes the "insufficient disk space" error to occur.
Given that, this is not reproducing normally on a clean system where the default installation folder is "c:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\" . I filed another bug as suggested in comment 9 - bug 871968
