Details

The problem seems to lie in nsWebShell::GetBrowserWindow(), which assumes that its root container can be QueryInterfaced to be a nsIBrowserWindow. Unfortunately, the root container seems to be an nsWebShell, and not a browser window at all. The containment seems to be messed up. Under the viewer application the root container is a browser window, so GetBrowserWindow() works.
