QA needs smtptest.exe included in release builds
Chris - currently, smtptest.exe is not in the x86rel directory of the release
builds. This tool is being built in the debug builds. Is there a way to
include this tool for the release builds? We're trying to use this tool in our
automated smoke tests of the release builds.
Thanks.

Ooops...I just emailed Sarah about this asking here how this process works.
We're going to have more apps than just this one for these smoketests....
where does smtptest.exe get built in the mailnews tree? turning on the switch to
have it be built for non-debug builds should be relatively trivial. do we expect
the smtptest.exe tool to be changing a lot? if yes, then we can add it to the
build system. if the answer is no, then we just need to make an adjustment to the
packaging scripts so that it can be made available to you.

Chris, smtpTest.exe gets built already in the seamonkey tree today on windows.
It just wasn't getting packaged into the release build zip file on sweet lou,
that's all I wanted to have happen. I talked to sarah and leaf this morning and
I believe I got email from leaf early today saying he had started putting
smtpTest.exe in the windows .zip file that goes up on sweet lou. So you might be
able to mark this bug as fixed.
Lisa/Bindu/Par, look for it in tomorrow's build....
lisa/bindu/par...
can someone verify that this is being done and close this bug? thanks.

Checked today's 3/25 build and I see the following. I ran smtptest.exe and it
worked fine.
F:\tmp\LSB\commercial\x86rel>dir smtptest.exe
Volume in drive F is Build Tree
Volume Serial Number is A0F0-A244
Directory of F:\tmp\LSB\commercial\x86rel
03/25/99 10:57a 7,136 smtpTest.exe
1 File(s) 7,136 bytes
1,348,837,376 bytes free
I am reopening this bug. pmock checked in the Win32 4/22/99 017 build and
smtptest.exe is not in the directory after installation (unzipping)
Likewise, I'll add this here: we also need poptest.exe to be in the release
builds.
We are using these two files for our smoketests.
Thanks.
I'm putting this on M5 since Smoke Test in place is a deliverable for M5.

I was just assigned this last night (at least, i didn't get notified until this
morning).
smtpTest.exe is included in the xtratest.exe self-extracting archive, and is
installed when you use the installer to install seamonkey and select all the
components for installation.

QA also needs pop3Test.exe

Allow me to clarify: *all* executables which are *not* apprunner.exe which are
produced as part of the windows build process (that is, every file in and under
dist/win32_o.obj/bin/), are included in the xtratest.exe self-extracting
archive.

In my debug directory (D:\mozilla\dist\WIN32_D.OBJ\bin>), smpttest.exe and
pop3test.exe do exist. I then extract xtratest.exe (2351 Kb Thu Apr 29 01:01:00
1999)in a temp directory and it also contained pop3test.exe and smtptest.exe. I
then installed today's build (Custom - with extras enabled) on a system. The two
tests were in the C:\program files\netscape\seamonkey\x86rel directory.
