This must be a dup, but I couldn't find one.
Apprunner, defaull start page. Click on the link that says 'This goes to test2'
etc. test2.html loads. Now hit the back button. This puts a file URL to
contentframe.html into the URL bar, but the page does not change.

Priority: P3 → P1

Target Milestone: M4
Re-assigned to radha@netscape.com, set target milestone to M4, changed component
to XPApps, priority to P1, and platform and OS to All.
Ugh, this is bad ...

Let me take a look at this on 4/8/99

Do you have the sidebar on when you do this? Matt said that 'Back' was a problem
when sidebar was on, since the url page is a Frame when sidebar is up & Frame
history doesn't quite work.

I'm pretty sure I was seeing it both when the sidebar was there, and when it
was not. You can get into this latter state by clicking on the 'Home' toolbar
button.
This is broken because window.back() is broken with frames.
QA should have a tescase for this to check it out.
Back and Forward work fine once you are off the initial start
up page.
Start browser
hit home - goto netscape page
hit back - goto initial startup page
hit forward - goto netscape page
Just the first page testcase and when you
use the sidebar and then use back and forward does it
not work. I have a fix for all of this. See bug
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4644
Note: Can QA follow up on window.back() in frames and see
if it is working?

Resolved as FIXED.
Actually it _was_ the same bug, believe it or not. :-) Anyway, it's fixed in
last night's build.
This does not work on Mac Apr 09 build. I'm still trying to bond with this new
Win32 install. sujay, how's Linux look for this?

You might be seeing this bug http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4835
This is an apprunner bug and we make the problem only slightly worse.
Pretty much frame history is horked along with all sorts of other frame
problems.

My checkin for this bug on 4/7/99 to navigator.xul was removed by Matt's later
checkin to this file. I have re-checked in the file on 4/9/around 5:30 pm.
Please verify today. Thanks.

Sorry, My previous comments were suppose to be for another bug. Matt is
responsible for this, after the sidebar changes. I'm reassigning this to him.

This should be fixed.
There are 2 bugs against back/forward
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2005
Back/forward navigation within frames not working properly
and
Back button doesn't work with manually entered URLs
http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=3846
If the behavior that you are seeing is not on of these bugs
please file a new bug. Please verify with todays builds.

This is broken on (at least) Linux and Win32 using the 1999101408 build. I'm
reopening this ancient bug to cut down on the total number of bugs; the
description of this old bug isn't quite right. Currently, if you press Back or
Forward, nothing at all happens (ie the Location: control is not updated).
