build: 1999040711 platform: all expected results: page should load and display similar to display using 4.51 what happens: page begins to load then abruptly stops with minimal objects loaded why: looking at the content of the page, the page is constructed using multiple and nested LAYER tags, in addition, the page contains 19 SPACER tags and 23 TABLE tags. Also, they have a comment that contains script data prior to the <HTML> element. As a local copy, the page would render but, since the LAYER tags were not recognized, the data was piled on top of each other.

Kipp and DP: there are 2 problems here. One is a layout bug with layers. The second is that when you point to this page via a non-file URL, netlib or URL parsing code loses its mind.
Assignee: kipp → troy
troy: can you knock down the layer issues on this page; if it turns into block problems, shoot it back my way otherwise throw at dp to diagnoze the netlib issues.

Component: Parser → Networking Library
As far as the LAYER problems, some small test cases (as a separate bug) that demonstrate the problem would be greatly appreciated. dp, the page doesn't load for me either, so changing the component to "Networking Library" and assigning it to you

Changing all Networking Library/Browser bugs to Networking-Core component for Browser. Occasionally, Bugzilla will burp and cause Verified bugs to reopen when I do this in a bulk change. If this happens, I will fix. ;-)
Bulk move of all Networking-Core (to be deleted component) bugs to new Networking component.
