I've noticed this for a week or so. When your on a page that performs automatic
refreshing the back button history has multiple entries for the same page. A
good example of this is any of the Yahoo baseball pages. These page refresh
automaticly every 45 seconds.

reporter, I went to the yahoo.com/sports/mlb and the page doesn't refresh. could
you please provide an example page where you see this problem.

solomonr@arist.com - we need a sample page for this problem, as there are
several ways refreshing can be achieved. <meta refresh> doesn't seem to add
extra copies of a page to the history...

If you go to http://sports.yahoo.com/ when a game is underway, and click on the
inning you will see the problem when you click on the back button. Today there
is a game at 1:05 pm EST. The screen reload every 45 seconds when the game is
underway.

I tried this using build 2000082208 in Win98. The bug does occur and my team
was losing badly while I confirmed this. If you follow his directions, it is
easily reproduced, just do it before the season ends :-)

This is also observed on Linux 2000082321. The site I go to is
http://www.globeinvestor.com/, type in a stock symbol, and then select refresh
every 5 minutes just above the table, to the right.

This may be the same behaviour as I'm seeing on http://www.mozillazine.org/: at
times (reliably but not always) the home page and the build comments page will
be added to the back button's history three or four times. I don't see a
refresh in either page's source or headers, although I tend to notice it if I've
physically reloaded the page.

mass-verifying claudius' Fixed bugs which haven't changed since 2001.12.31.
if you think this particular bug is not fixed, please make sure of the following
before reopening:
a. retest with a *recent* trunk build.
b. query bugzilla to see if there's an existing, open bug (new, reopened,
assigned) that covers your issue.
c. if this does need to be reopened, make sure there are specific steps to
reproduce (unless already provided and up-to-date).
thanks!
