It is now happening also in M4
The npmidi32.dll comes from Liveupdate Crescendo Version 3.0 for Windows 95 It also affects the neoplanet technology preview ( with mozilla's active-x component) but it does not disable it.
I experience that on M3 and every nightly builds that I downloaded.

Chris/Leaf, do either of you know anything about this?
Reproduced on Win95 and Win98 machines-'apprunner caused an exception 03H in module NPMIDI32.dll....' I did not have Liveupdate Crescendo V3.0 - downloaded and installed current build of apprunner (apr21)on all Win32 machines and got the error on the 95 and 98 machines. NOTE: this did not occur on my WinNT machine. Apprunner (1999042108) is launching and running without a problem

this looks like a incompatibility in the plugin handler, not a build config issue. reassigning to

Can you please post a test URL and tell me where I can obtain a copy of the plugin? I cannot find it on MS's site.
Never mind - I found the plugin. I cannot repro the crash at startup with a recent build. Can someone verify this?
Build 1999042608 Apprunner doesn't crash with npmidi32.dll anymore.
verified-apprunner does not crash with npmidi32.dll build 1999042708
