What java version are you running?

Loads blank screen. Also, http://www.java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml is blank. Opera (Version 10.10 Build 6795) and Safari Version 4.0.4 (6531.21.10) both work. Safemode doesn't help. Doesn't safemode disable the Java Embedding Plugin 0.9.7.2? Seems like all java applets generate errors. Lots of "Declaration dropped". Sadly, don't have another machine to test on at the moment. The Sun "Netlet" failed with 3.6 on WinXP so I reinstalled 3.5.7.

Downloaded 3.6. Not sure which version was running before but the new one reports the same info in "About" (see Comment 4). Java applets now work. Except Sun's old Netlet (failed on WinXP too). Should probably create a new bug for that. -Lee
