The Netscape and e-mail animated gif's don't animate in VB5 SP3 with the M4 release. Works fine in apprunner.

Can you provide more info by what you mean by animated gifs? I have loaded several commerical sites such as Yahoo! that contain animated gis and they appear to work find.

after more testing, at this url: <http://www.occdsb.on.ca/~trh/archives/anigifs.html>, it appears that the gifs do animate, but when the page stops loading, they seem to stop. It also seems that the first ones to load stop animating once the later ones come in. The end result when the page is done loading is that nothing is animating.

Works fine for me in viewer. My guess is that it's a problem with how timers (which is what imagelib uses for animated gifs) are handled when we're embedded in vb5 (I'm guessing that's what the vb5 angle is). You might see if Pam Nunn (pnunn@netscape.com) can shed any light on animated gifs

for the record, i have seen problems with too many animated gifs at other sites such as ty.com. however, that should be covered in other bugs... and doesn't seem to be linked to activex or what have you. i'm going to go ahead and verify this as worksforme.
