User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.3a1pre) Gecko/20100202 Minefield/3.7a1pre Build Identifier: http://www.mozilla.org/ports/qtmozilla/ is stuck in 2003. But since 2008 there is an active port of the Mozilla toolkit to Qt 4.x though I'm not sure about individual products. Some links (in chronological order): * Vlad blogged about resuscitating a Qt back-end in http://blog.vlad1.com/2008/05/06/well-isnt-that-qt/ , that has since been merged to mozilla-central. * Someone built an unofficial Firefox on Qt in 2008, http://timeless.justdave.net/maemo/firefoxqt3.tar.gz * Fennec announcements say there was a port in 2008, Mobile/Notes on wiki.m.o has a Platform support:Qt section. * In http://starkravingfinkle.org/blog/2009/10/fennec-1-0-beta-4-for-maemo/ someone claims "AFAIK last year Nokia paid to port the Mozilla codebase (well, the UI-part of it) to Qt." Mr. Finkle says "The Qt version also builds, but is not currently the primary target." * http://developer.mikek.dk/#post50 explains how to build Fennec for Qt on Maemo with --enable-default-toolkit=cairo-qt Dead ends: * http://groups.google.com/group/netscape.public.mozilla.qt/topics is dead and full of spam. * On the current page, "TrollTech's Qt Mozilla web site." redirects to a dead link. http://browser.garage.maemo.org/news/10/ is more up-to-date, but still from 2008. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Either replace this page with actual status of the Qt port. But as that seems in flux, perhaps have it redirect to a wiki.mozilla page that relevant engineers can keep up to date and link to their various build notes and Mobile/Platform status notes. This is an example of another archaic page on the mozilla.org web site :-)
If you'd like to own that page, you're welcome to update it and either check in updates or send them to me and I'll update it. The other option would be to archive it so if anyone comes across this they'll be told this is out of date information.
But I don't know the plans for the Qt backend, which is what Qt and KDE fans care about. Will any shipping Mozilla products use the new backend? And just on Maemo, or on Linux, or Mac and Windows as well? I created https://wiki.mozilla.org/Qt . Until a maintainer who knows what's going on appears, I suggest you archive-and-obsolete http://www.mozilla.org/ports/qtmozilla/ or redirect it to this wiki page, and change http://www.mozilla.org/ports/ to instead link to this wiki page (and change Trolltech to Nokia, and ... I'll file a separate bug :) ). Can you confirm this bug?
Redirecting this page to the wiki sounds fine. If someone shows up and objects then we can switch it back as needed. One suggestion -- can you link to the archived page from the wiki so it's findable if someone was interested? http://www-archive.mozilla.org/ports/qtmozilla/
