The text shadow applied to some lightweight themes makes the text difficult to read. The detection of which text shadow to apply has been tweaked (bug 519486), and a luminosity midrange to not apply a text shadow has been explored (bug 529129). However, legability is highly affected by the background image. As such, lightweight themes should be able to opt-out of having a text shadow applied.
