What should "Use my chosen colors" really do?

Details
The "Use my chosen colors" pref overrides too much. This can be seen with
Viewer demo #4 or, in particular, Tinderbox:
- Every line of text has a white background overriding the background image;
where there is no text the background image shines through nevertheless. Ugly.
- Table cell backgrounds are not honored at all, tinderbox is b/w.
In its current state, this option is not very useful.
Then I suspect in a CSS-styled world this is ill-defined anyway, but
what can be done about it?

I don't see the white background on the Mac. Maybe it's a peculiarity of Unix.
Reassigned to Marc.
I agree that for most uses, the pref seems to override too much and is not very
useful. However the behavior is consistent with the legacy and with the
competition and I believe it has been done that way for accessibility reasons.
Some people may choose to display everything in black and white and very large
characters. I recommend checking the problem with the white background and if it
appears to be fixed, close the bug as Invalid.

Per Marc, when you choose 'Use My Colors', all backgrounds use the indicated
colors, including cell backgrounds, etc. This is what Nav and Netscape6 do now.
